NEWater Centre

On the first day of the hols, I asked the kids to make a list of things they wanted to do cos I didn’t want to hear about how we didn’t get to do such-and-such, and we didn’t have time to go visit this-and-that. It was good that they articulated what they wanted cos it made for much easier planning.

We visited the NEWater Centre at the suggestion of Jordan. He’d read about it in the Science Centre magazine and it was on his list of things to do.

It was a nice, short and sharp hour and a half tour of the facility, explaining the functions and processes of NEWater. There was an area where the kids could press buttons, take part in quizzes, interact with the displays, kinda like a mini Science Centre, but we didn’t have much time there to look at everything. A nice little surprise was when we were watching one of the videos, Joe was the narrator telling us all about NEWater. It made the kids smile.

I had to sign a note in my son’s school notebook today:

1. Do maths pg blah blah

2. Learn spelling blah blah

3. I will not throw wet tissue paper on the ceiling again.

Joe and I are like, wha..at?

Apparently, yesterday some classmates of his were doing it. And they didn’t get caught. Today, they instigate our little blur sotong to do it too. And if you know him, he’s kinda slow. So got caught.

I laughed when I signed his book la. He looked appropriately chastised.

The minions are back in school

The 4 week long June school holidays are over. I remember saying to myself that the hols would be a good time to do things with the kids – visit places, see sights, play games, do crafts…

All bluff one la! I was even busier during the hols than I was when they’re in school! And today as I look back, busy doing WHAT I also don’t know. Sigh…
But it was really nice having them around and not having to think about who has what Chinese class and on what day at what time, and who had to get ready for school and who was fetching what to who and when…. you get the idea. Just multiply that by 4 kids.

Will put up photo stories soon. That’s the only way to keep track of what we did :)

And oops will you look at that? Jordan’s report book is STILL here with me, on my desk. Haiyah!

Making money online with Free Resources

Do you spend a lot of time online? Do you have a blog? Have you bought a domain for yourself or are you thinking about it?

I’m all of the above. I’m a stay-home mom and going online keeps me in touch with other people other than the kids in my house, and in turn, lets them into the hum-drum that is my life.

I just came away from the World Internet Summit and I’m quite fired up to get off my butt and do something to contribute to the household. I figure I’d like to make some money online, since I enjoy a lot of time surfing, reading and writing. But I need to do it with as little start-up cost as possible, preferably with free resources.

I found a gem of a website by 2 Singaporean blokes. Aptly titled “Free Money Formula”. And I’m excited to get going.

Stay tuned to see how I progress :)

(Some people venture out and set up shop. Think of this as my turn to set up shop. Wish me luck!)
