Photos from Leap Day 2008

We had an awesome Leap Day this year, both Megan and I. Her friends made a big deal that she was 3 and fussed over her good and proper in school, I got a new camera, and we topped off our very special day with a happening party at Hard Rock Cafe.

Many grateful thanks to Eugene for capturing the fun we had and for lovely portraits of a vivacious Lauren. That girl was hyper that night! And thanks to Joan for bringing her gear along as well.

Thanks also to Agnes, who did my makeup. I decided to treat myself nice and get a makeover and she was conveniently located at the makeup school in Delfi, so it was a hop over to get pretty up for the party. She even tweezed one of Megan’s brows, much to her squirming discomfort, and ended up having to shave the other brow cos the girl flat out refused any more paaaiiin. So funny.

And of course thanks to Joe, long-suffering husband and father and co-birthday celebrant. He remembers that we love hanging out with our friends, and once every 4 years, manages to remember to spoil us lavishly so that we can have a huge blow out with all our friends.

Few things I remember:
1. One friend Henry, when asked if the food was good, held up 7 fingers to Joe. He’d gone back to refill his plate 7 times.

2. (this one heartpain) The kids swimming instructor dropped her phone in the toilet and accidently pushed it over the edge into the great unknown when she was trying to get it back. Poor girl cried :(

3. Megan and her friends are in their “vampire phase” having just finished reading the Twilight series and she requested a red and black theme for her cupcakes. She also shopped and put together her outfit HERSELF. That girl has more style than I even now la!

4. The black icing on the cupcakes made everyone who ate them look like goth people, fitting very well into the Hard Rock Cafe atmosphere.

5. Lauren had ants in her bum all night. She was so happy and jumping and hamming it up for her audience.

6. Alan nge-ngeh wanted to find his angpao in my bag cos the amount was a special number he concocted by putting all our birthdays together.

7. It was c-c-c-cold! Blady aircon from upstairs was also meant for the patrons downstairs, hence the little icicle people walking around at our party.

8. Aunty Celia did a fantastic job harassing everyone to pen a few words for us. I really enjoyed going through the book the next day.

9. Everyone left at 10.30pm when the band Energy started to play. Hello? I had arranged for the kids to be out of the way so I could dance! I thought we were gonna rock the night away, but all pleaded long day la, tomorrow work la, tired la, kids got what la… Ppfftt. Looks like only the 9 yr old wanted to play.

10. Energy was the band we would go Fire disco to watch, cos they played the best covers. They were tight, the arrangements were spot on, fun to watch. I’m definitely going back.

Phew. Thank you everyone for coming, for your presence and for your presents :) I’m irritating everyone now with my new whine, “I cannot buy noooowww, cos at home I got voucheeeerrrssss!!”

Costa Sands chalet

Looking for help please.

I have 3 rooms at Costa Sands Resort during the March school hols which is next week, and I’m trying to sell them off cos something came up and we can’t make it. Would you or someone you know be looking to book some time there? Maybe you or they can take my rooms instead?

My booking is for Wed 12th March til Fri 14th March for 2 nights. I’ve got 3 Deluxe rooms. I’d be willing to let them go for $550. Or make me an offer.

Any other suggestions who I can ask? I’m loathe to cancel and forfeit the 50% of the rental I already paid.

Fwah! Can win Macbook Air!!

I also want! It’s sssssexyyyyy…

The finalists who want to go on an Australian Adventure are up. That part of the contest is done. The next part, the voting part can win a MacBook Air, a Sony Ericsson K8501,a Nikon B60, a Nintendo WII and two Scandisk Ducati Thumbdrive (4GB).

Be sure to at least put in a vote for the Unexpected Australia contest. Don’t go whinging that you don’t have a chance cos if you don’t buy the ticket, you sure as hell won’t win the 4D, ok?

Good Luck!

My first birthday present

.. was from Joe (of course!). It was something we talked about getting a long time ago, but it was a want which we couldn’t afford. It was only recently that we felt comfortable to splurge, and he tested the waters again by asking me nonchalantly about getting a dslr. I liked the idea and actually told people not to get me anything but to contribute to my dslr fund, but now no need already. It’s here :)

Canon Rebel xTi

Was talking to Petrina and her hub and they were all for us “investing” in a good lens. Investing?? Just how much does it cost??
