Power Jam 2008

Yesterday, I followed Joe to Zouk for Power 98FM’s Power Jam 2008. And discovered to my delight that local bands are good! The top 5 bands slugging it out last night played hard and sounded good.
The best part for me? Joe’s costume. The theme for the night was Glam Rock and up until 2 hours before the show, we had NO idea what Glam Rock was. I googled it, and came up with sparkly, androgynous, well-dressed rockers. How lah??
The sponsors for the night had already given Joe a pair of black Lee jeans. Vain Joe got them in a size too small, cos he said they were “the right look” for “the show” and “if I was gonna get them for myself, I might get them in my size”. O-kay. Enough with the air-commas. Like a Laser. Sorry.
Oh and plus he was wall-to-wall busy and couldn’t even arrange any kind of clothes for the night. So it was up to me, super wife (ta-dada-TAH!).
I called No.1 Costume Costume for Joe, and ordered up a long, black, shiny coat with tails and as many sparkles on the sleeves and collar as possible, a ruffled shirt for inside, and boot covers.
We get there and the coat they got us was sad. Like sequins falling off and only threads left kind of sad. I think it whimpered when I picked it up. It was a mad mad rush to find something, ANYTHING that worked, cos already late for makeup. (Makeup?! I know!) We go ruffling through the coats they have and I picked up an Arabian coat, a Wizard’s Coat, and a Lab coat. All very neehh.
And then we saw it (ta-dada-TAH!). Glam Rock, you ain’t seen nothing yet!!!
