Tips for Staying Young/Happy
I just read this in the Family Life Society newsletter. I thought I’d share it with you. Although it’s on how to stay young, I think it’s also a useful tool on how to stay happy.
Tips on How to Stay Young/Happy!
- Throw out non-essential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That’s why you pay them.
- Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
- Keep learning. Learn more about the computers, crafts, gardening whatever! Never let the brain be idle. “An idle mind is the devil’s workshop! And the devil’s name is Alzheimer”.
- Enjoy simple things.
- Laugh often… Long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
- The tears happen. Endure grief and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life is ourselves. So be ALIVE while you are alive.
- Surround yourself with what you love, whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.
- Cherish your health. If it is good, preserve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
- Don’t take guilt trips. Take trips to the mall or even to another country. Avoid heading to where guilt lies.
- Tell the people whom you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
Finally, friends, always remember. Life is not measured by the number of breaths that we take but by the moments that take our breath away.
